I'm maybe a quarter of the way through the second Obernewtyn book, 'The Farseekers,' and I have to say it's been really great! I am surprised I haven't come across this series before since it was written in the '80s so its been around for a while.
If I haven't talked about this series before, it takes place in a post apocalyptic world...sort of. Rather, there was an apocalypse and this series takes place years and years afterward, which, I think makes it a treasure. The world building, showing how societies and theology develops is subtly brilliant. The characters are great too and Carmody keeps you wanting to turn the page. If you haven't read this young adult series yet, I'd highly recommend it.
My next recommendation is about my writerly friend Kelly Said who, not only has an amazing last name, but also has a story coming out in an anthology coming this June!
Look at this cover! Isn't it lovely?
Anyways, I always enjoy Kelly's writing. If you take a look at her blog, she'll put up tantalizing snippets during Six Sentence Sundays which are just absolute teases. I'm looking forward to this one coming out!
My last recommendation is for earmuffs. I walked to the library and post office today without mine and I think I lost an ear to frostbite. Earmuffs. They're great!
